You Gotta Love a Good Deal .......

It all started with the maple coloured hutch I got for $20.00. I just knew I could do something with it. I had visions of a more substanial,
worldly desk but couldn't say no when my friend offered this desk for free:


Here's the $20.00 hutch:



I picked up some 123 bull's eye primer and some deep brown, almost black paint. Since I hate sanding, and the surface was too glossy, I would much rather prime it.
Two coats of paint later and this is what it looked like. Perfect for the computer nook upstairs.

I haven't really accessorized it yet and I'd love to add a glaze to this but this will do for now. I TOTALLY love Sid Dickens tiles but I loved the price of these ones much better- $3.00. And the initials stands for my hubby and three kids who all start with A's. Someone should have told me that after 40 having every family member's names might be slightly confusing - the kid's are totally used to me calling them by the other one's name.






Next time I get any rare, spare time I'll paint the matching bookcases....yup, got them for $17.00 each. Almost more fun than paying full price !

Autumn Glory

Autumn truly is my favourite time of year. I take in all of its splendor from rose coloured glasses.It seems to touch all of the senses - the crispness of the air, the crunch of the leaves, the intensity of the colours. But as an artist, what speaks to me most is the glory of the light.........God's Glory.

Fleur de Lis Fetish

True confessions, I know that Fleur de Lis are all the rage now, but I've had a Fleur de Lis Fetish for many years now..........yup it all started with my French DH's boxers. Being very patriotic, he had them on his boxers. What can I say , I was enamored with the symbol and have loved them ever since.



A little history, which I'm sure most know, the word Lis stand for Lily in French and is the symbol on the flag of France.

From a decorating point of view they just lend themselves so well to every room of the house. I have a hard time naming my favourite, although I truly do love them on Old World garden sculptures .....but then again I truly love them on bling too.

I'm sure the French decorating theme with Eiffel Towers will come and go , but Fleur de Lis are truly timeless.

Reality ....school started again and I actually work fulltime !

Just a quick post....... the glorious, empty days of summer have now passed on to fall and I have been reminded that I actually do work fulltime as a teacher !......plus I almost forgot I have three children in rep sports and actually don't have time or a life - a girl can dream can't she ? Oh the joys of blogland ! I truly enjoyed wandering around blogland in the mornings with a cup of tea. I'll just have to find another time . You CAN bring a laptop to the hockey rink can't you ? I am definitely a new member of the "Addicted to Blogs" club.

I've also been going through blog withdrawl because my 'puter picked up a nasty little virus from limewire ......make that 9 trojans, 5 worms and lots of adware . I couldn't even run my computer for the last two weeks. So, if you have any kids that download from limewire ...... I'd advise them not to ...it can get real nasty.
